I write because I love the written word. Reading an intentionally crafted sentence is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and I feel an almost mystical calling to refine my craft enough to give that pleasure to others. I want to present my reader with a sharp and glittering morsel of prose that dazzles them, even in simplicity. My writing is rooted in what I consider to be three basic truths: that nothing in this life is trivial, that love is a real and binding force, and that in a void, the universe bends towards humor. These three tenets guide me as I explore that which confuses, enrages, and interests me: the push and pull between relativity and absolutism, the commodification of faith and ritual, the balance between personal and group responsibility, the romanticization of misery, and the reduction of human experience to mere pathology. My writing makes no grand moral judgements, but rather seeks to neutrally present for the reader’s consideration the intricacies of humanity.
